Full gas storage unlikely to help Europe in winter, Gazprom says

Gazprom doubted that even the almost completely filled gas storage facilities of European countries would allow them to survive the winter without problems.

"According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, as of September 13, gas reserves in Europe were replenished by 58.4 billion cubic meters," the company said. "However, even reserves close to the maximum do not guarantee a reliable completion of the upcoming autumn-winter operation period."

Germany's gas storage facilities are currently 89% full, although Berlin expected to reach 85% only by October.

Earlier, the European Commission ordered all EU countries fill at least 80% of gas storage facilities before the start of the heating season on November 1.
