Google Wants to Slow YouTube in Russia (reports)

Google has reportedly notified several Russian internet service providers of plans to terminate Google Global Cache servers. (RBC)

The servers are used to speed up the loading of Google pages, including YouTube. Several Russian internet providers confirmed that these servers were turned off on May 19, and a notification was received a few days later.

However, Russia’s largest internet providers, including Rostelecom say that Google servers continue to work as usual.

Earlier this month, the Russian subsidiary of Google started bankruptcy proceedings due to the arrest of the company’s bank account.
