Rennes v Chelsea: Why I made U-turn on my future at Stamford Bridge – Rudiger

Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger has confirmed that he made a U-turn on his future at Stamford Bridge after he received positive signals from the club’s coaching team.

Rudiger stated this ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Rennes on Tuesday night in France.

The German centre-back dropped down the pecking order under manager Frank Lampard and was being heavily linked with a move away from the Blues to join the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur.

The 27-year-old was not included in Chelsea’s opening nine matches of the season, but he returned to the fold at the end of last month after positive talks with Lampard and has since featured for the West London club against Krasnodar, Rennes and Newcastle United respectively.

“I am satisfied with how the situation has developed in the past weeks,” Rudiger told German outlet SID.

“Now, I see myself as a permanent part of the team. I had a tough time, so I also checked other transfer options, but I received positive signals from the coaching team.”
